Holiday Travel Plans
Triple A reports 34.8 million Americans, including 1.3 million Ohioans will travel at least 50 miles from home this Memorial Day Weekend.
This is a 1.4 percent decrease from last Memorial Day. The decrease is attributed to a sluggish economic recovery and the impact of sequestration.
Triple A also said that the pent up demand for travel brought on by the recession has been satisfied.
Triple A also estimates 90 percent of Ohio travelers will drive to their destinations. More than 64,000 will fly and this is a 7.8 percent decrease in Ohio.
Travelers are also expected to spend on average $659 this Memorial Holiday. Some of the major destinations for Ohioans include Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head and Orlando.
