Holiday Travel Predictions

Ahead of the 4th of July holiday travel season Triple A reports nearly 43 million Americans including 1.8 million Ohioans will travel at least fifty miles from home.

The holiday period goes from Thursday, June 30 to Monday, July 4. The numbers mark the highest 4th of July travel volume on record and is an increase of 1.3 percent nationally and 2.3 percent in Ohio from last year. 

Triple A predicts that about 83 percent of Ohioans will travel by car to reach their destinations, while 79,000 will travel by air. 

Triple A anticipates that most drivers will pay the lowest Independence Day gas prices since 2005. Hotel costs have also fallen slightly compared to last Independence Day.
