Holland excited for fresh start with White Sox

NEWARK, Ohio – Newark grad Derek Holland returned to his alma mater for his annual pitching clinic without wearing familiar Texas Rangers attire.
The eight-year MLB veteran pitcher has traded in Ranger red, white and blue for White Sox black and white. He agreed to a one-year, $6 million deal with Chicago on Dec. 14.
Holland posted a 62-50 record with a 4.35 ERA during his time with Texas. He appeared in four World Series games over that span and is perhaps best remembered for leading the Rangers to a Game 4 victory over St. Louis in 2011 by tossing 8 1/3 innings of shutout ball.
Holland will report to Glendale, Arizona for White Sox spring training in mid-February.
