'hoops For Troops' Honors Local Veterans

Local Veterans and current Military members were honored Friday night for their service.

Bishop Rosecran High School hosted the first Hoops for Troops event at the boys basketball game verses Coshocton High School. Around 7:30 p.m the troops marched into the gymnasium with the Bishop Rosecran players in between them and the veterans were asked to come down and surround the court while a group of singers recited the National Anthem.

"It’s important to say thank you. Everyone of us get busy in our day to day lives and we don’t forget, we just don’t think about it because we’re not out front, said Athletic Director, Tony Coury. "If it wasn’t for the veterans then these guys wouldn’t be here. These guys are protecting their freedom. It’s the land of the free and home of the brave."

All vets was presented with an American Flag that was donated by the Daughters of the American Revolution.
