House Fire on Goddard Avenue, Destroys Entire Home

921 Goddard Avenue Fire

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Zanesville Fire Department responded to a fire on Goddard Avenue that took place approximately around 3:55 a.m. this morning.

Assistant Chief with the Zanesville Fire Department, Doug Hobson, said the neighbors called in the fire, but when they arrived at the scene, the home was already fully engulfed.

“Right now we’re making sure that we get some of the hotspots that are in the house knocked down,” Hobson stated. “The house is really unstable so it makes it hard for us to get inside.”

Hobson said because they can’t physically go into the structure, they will be ordering an emergency tear down.

Other departments took action along with the fire department. Hobson said the plan is to get access to the basement to figure out further causes.

“We do have the water department here. They’re pumping out the basement just so we can see all of the house just to look for the cause, the cause and origin right now,” Hobson stated.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and is still under investigation.
