Human skeletal remains found in Morgan Co.

MORGAN CO., Ohio- Skeletal remains of a human hand were found in Morgan County.

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office received a phone call from a citizen at approximately 8:00 a.m. on Friday, June 30th who was hunting for arrowheads at the Muskingum River #8 Dam in the Eagleport area of State Route 669.

Upon arrival, the caller stated he found what he believed to be skeletal remains of a human hand laying on the sandbar next to the Muskingum River.

The Sheriff, several deputies, and volunteers from the Adult Parole Authority and Morgan County Court Probation Department sealed the area 6.5 miles north of Malta in Morgan County and conducted a search. Several items of interest along with the skeletal remains were collected.

The items will be sent to the Criminal Intelligence Analysis Division of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation for DNA testing and a search for a possible match to a missing persons report.
