Hunter Matthew Polk

Hunter Matthew Polk, age 24 of Zanesville, went to his home in heaven, Monday, April 3, 2023, in Columbus. He was born Friday, May 15, 1998, in Zanesville, the son of Melanie (Michael Hying) Polk and the late Pete Polk, and was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church.
He was a 2016 graduate of Tri-Valley High School. Hunter was an avid Football player and was awarded a D-1 full athletic and academic scholarship to Duquesne University and after his first year he transferred to Walsh University to continue his football career and pursue his Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and Business Administration.
He enjoyed music, had a love of reading and being in the outdoors. Hunter passions were fishing, hunting, and traveling all over the country to hike with his furry friend “Rosie.” Yellowstone National Park was their favorite place to hike. Hunter was working toward his dream of opening a fish hatchery and owning a farm.
In addition to his mother, he was survived by three siblings, Lydia (Samuel Culp) Polk of Columbus; Dillon Polk and Diamond Hying all of Zanesville; maternal grandmother, Mary Pritchard; Aunt, Julie (David) Mattingly; Uncle, Adam (Tara) Pritchard all of Zanesville; cousins, Caleb and Connor Wooley, Clay and Cami Mattingly, and Koen, Kason and Haylee Pritchard all of Zanesville, a large extended family; and his forever “Good Buddy” Father Bill Arnold, who spent many wonderful times together cooking and watching sports.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his grandfather, Harold “Cal” Pritchard.
Friends may call from 12PM to 2PM & 5PM to 8PM on Friday, April 14, 2023, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor, Funeral Home, 935 Forest Ave., Zanesville. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 925 Main Street, Zanesville with Fr. Bill Arnold as celebrant and Fr. Martin Ralko as co-celebrant. Burial will conclude in the Mt. Olive Cemetery, Zanesville.
