I-70 Eastbound Closed from Airport Road to New Concord Following Multiple Semi Crashes

Holiday travelers are facing major delays this Black Friday as Interstate 70 eastbound remains closed between Airport Road and New Concord.

According to EMA Director Jeff Jadwin, multiple semi-truck accidents have shut down the roadway. Salt trucks are on scene, but crews are having difficulty reaching the impacted area due to the number of vehicles involved.

At this time, there is no estimated reopening for the eastbound lanes, and officials urge drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

6:30 a.m. update:

I-70 at 169 Eastbound tractor is facing westbound. No injuries or fatalities, cleanup continues at both sites. 163 and 169, both are eastbound, and lanes are still blocked.

8 a.m. update:

Both lanes I-70 eastbound are now open, traffic is slow moving.
