IBEW Local Union 1105 Providing Multiple Trade Jobs to Southeastern Ohio

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The IBEW Local Union 1105 is gearing up for the many electrical jobs coming soon throughout Southeastern Ohio due to the previously announced Intel Project.
The IBEW Local Union 1105 is an International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers with about 250 members providing them job opportunities and training classes two nights a week.
Business Development Liaison for IBEW, Ashley Labaki, said they are looking for more members and can have someone working the next day after signing up.
“We’re looking for all classifications of workers. We’re looking to take in hopefully some journey level people. So the way that our apprenticeship program works is it’s a five year program, you start working full time, but you’re also learning a trade, which is fantastic because it means that you can have a career, you can have that on the job training, you can have your class time training, you can get that without going into debt,” Labaki stated.
When joining the union, members are able to work anywhere in the United States while the benefits are paid by the employer, and follow the employee wherever they go.
IBEW uses signatory contractors that are specifically using manpowers to staff their jobs, says Labaki .
“So when they’re signatory, they sign that agreement that they will pay the wages that the IBEW sets. We have different districts and regions so depending on where you’re working the wages may be a little different, but there’s also the pension,” Labaki said. “Here in Local 1105 we have a pension, we have an annuity, we have our health and welfare as well so in all of that, all the fringe benefits, they don’t come off of the check. You have your wages that you make and the employer pays for your health insurance, pension and for your annuity. ”
Labaki said jobs like for an inside journeyman wireman can make up to $34.25.
IBEW Local Union 1105 is located at 5805 Frazeysburg Rd and has jobs to fill up to 10 years from now.
Anyone can apply for the programs provided, and then start this coming August. For more information, please email at ashley@ibewlocal1105.org.
