Indians defeat Cubs in Game 3 to take a 2-1 World Series lead

CHICAGO, Illinois – The Cleveland Indians dominated on the mound to take a 2-1 lead in the World Series after beating the Chicago Cubs 1-0.

Starter Josh Tomlin gave up two hits and a walk in 4.2 innings of work on the hill, while Andrew Miller, Bryan Shaw and Cody Allen gave up a combined three hits to add to the shutout. Miller was awarded with the win.

The game was scoreless up until the 7th inning when Coco Crisp drove in Michael Martinez for the game’s only run.

In the bottom of the 9th inning, Chicago had runners on second and third with two outs.  Allen recorded his first save of the world series thanks to a strikeout to end the game.

Game 4 will be played Saturday night at 8pm in Chicago.  Corey Kluber will start for the Tribe against John Lackey for the Cubs.
