ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Property owners can celebrate as the Inflation Cap Credit has been fully implemented in Muskingum County. Muskingum County Auditor Tina Huebner announced in a press release that the credit applies to qualifying properties and reduces taxes owed on certain school district levies.

This means taxpayers will see a lower amount due on their second half tax bills. Those who have prepaid the full year’s taxes may be eligible for a refund and will be notified by mail. Property owners are encouraged to visit the Muskingum County Auditor’s website to review their parcel information and see how the credit affects their taxes.

The Inflation Cap Credit was approved under House Bill 186, which was passed in March. The bill was an attempt by the Ohio Legislature to address the rising concerns and criticisms surrounding the state’s property tax structure.
