Inspection Reports on Demand

Health Department

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Have you ever wondered how your favorite restaurant rates with the health department?

Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department Health Educator Carleigh West reveals a new feature that lets customers see just how compliant their restaurant is regarding health safety regulations.

“So the QR Codes were provided by the health department to all of our food facilities. And what it is is a window cling that’s basically a sticker. And the businesses were told to put it in a prominent location, visible to the customers. That way they can use their phone camera to scan it and what that will do is it will provide them the direct link that goes to our website, where they can search any food facility and have access to that facility’s inspection reports,” West said.

The health department monitors all food service facilities within the county and are attempting to make all of their information more accessible but restaurants have the option of posting the QR displays on their premises.

“I guess, just to use the QR Code, for somebody who maybe isn’t familiar with using them, all that you need to do is use your mobile device camera, scan it. You’ll use that camera, point it directly at the QR Code square and then a link will pop up. You’ll click on that link. That’s when you get to the search bar. From the search bar, type in whatever food facility in Muskingum County that you’d like to view and then you have access to all those reports,” West said.

The link will allow you to see the type of inspection, when it took place and whether they were compliant. It does not provide an avenue of filing complaints, for that you must visit the health department’s website.
