Interim Fire Chief Doug Hobson was given a proclamation from the City Council

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Interim Fire Chief Doug Hobson was honored Monday night by the City Council, but he said the proclamation extends to the whole fire department.
During the Zanesville city half marathon, there was a medical emergency and Chief Hobson responded because he was there providing safety. He said it was a team effort – Value Care Ambulance took the patient from the scene. Chief Hobson said 17 years ago, he signed up to save lives and this is what the firefighters at Zanesville Fire Department do everyday.
“To get a proclamation tonight is absolutely great from City Council, but it’s what we do. It’s what we signed up to do,” Chief Hobson explained.
Chief Hobson is honored to receive the proclamation, but he said it isn’t just for him – it’s for the whole Zanesville Fire Department.
“And I’m happy to say that I had the gentleman in my office today for about 45 minutes for a great meeting,” said Chief Hobson. “We bonded, we formed a friendship for life I believe, a great handshake and a great hug. And I was glad I was there, you know, right place, right time.”
Chief Hobson said he doesn’t need a thanks from anyone – the gentleman sitting across from him in his office today was all the thanks he needs. The City Council is planning to hold a celebration with everyone involved soon.
