Investment Committee Meets in March

Muskingum County Treasurer Chris Hamill met with the commissioners to discuss a move to create greater investments in the county Monday.

The county will move liquid funds to an ICS account at Century National Bank, which will provide greater returns for the county’s money. Hamill said the commissioners are always looking for ways to make the county’s money go further and be sure everything goes according to plan.

"A lot of time we’ll meet every other month or sometimes monthly just to keep on top of where our funds are and make sure everything is going according to policy," said Hamill.

Hamill also discussed other investments in need of attention in the county including Certificate of Deposits that will mature in the near future.

"We were discussing the CD that would mature on March 31," said Hamill. "The committee renewed the CD at a higher rate for six months. "

The next investment meeting is scheduled for late April.
