James Dennis

James “Jim” H. Dennis age 86, of Caldwell, OH passed away Friday, April 10, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born February 13, 1940 in Sarahsville, OH, son of the late Raymond W. Sr. and Helen L. Shafer Dennis.

He was a member of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Belle Valley, OH. Jim was a 1958 graduate of the former Belle Valley High School. He worked at Central Ohio Coal Company for 32 years, retiring in 2002 as a dragline and dozer operator. In his own words, “He loved Judy very much. He loved his kids and grandkids. He loved raising corn, filling the silos and feeding cattle. He appreciated his job at Central Ohio Coal Company.”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Judy A. Archer Dennis, whom he married April 18, 1959, and who passed September 19, 2021; brother Raymond Dennis Jr. and sister Mary King.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children Debbie (Whitey) Fogle of Caldwell, Tammy Shaeffer of Streamwood, IL, Patty (Paul) Nau of Caldwell, Beth (Donnie) Bridgman Jr. of Caldwell, Tom (David McGuire) Dennis of Cotati, CA, and Ted (Caroline) Dennis of Virginia Beach, VA; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sister Grace (Mike) Higgins of Caldwell, OH. He is also survived by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Cremation will be observed, with private inurnment to take place at a later date in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Judy.
