James “Jim” Bouey

Profile Bouey

“If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I’d like to do
Is to save every day
‘Til eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you”

James K. Bouey was born January 29, 1958 to the late Charles and Lois Bouey. He grew up in Cleveland OH, with his older brother Mike, his sisters Kathy and Terri whom he loved very much and his little brother Billy who he now rests in peace with. He was blessed with many nieces and nephews. Being the wild child he was, Jimmy Bouey made lifelong friends from the neighborhood he grew up in and enjoyed spending time with them throughout his life.

“If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I’d save every day like a treasure and then
Again, I would spend them with you”

In 1977 by a chance of fate Michelle Powers knocked on Jim’s door asking to use the phone. It was love at first sight for Jim. After meeting Michelle’s mother Peggy and her four younger siblings (Keith, Jeff, Jack, and Kristin) Jim quickly became part of the family and loved them as his own. In 1979 Jim and Michelle were married. They spent the next 44 years building a family of 4 children, Melissa (Scott) Schaeffer, Mathew (Ashlee) Bouey, Brittany Bouey, Patrick (Shae) Bouey. After spending many years of watching the greatest love story, the children found a love of their own and blessed them with 7 grandchildren that they loved dearly. Natalee, Hannah and Donovan Bouey, Milton and Maisie Schaeffer, Jameson, and Koen Bouey.

“But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I’ve looked around enough to know
That you’re the one I want to go
Through time with”

Jim lived life to the fullest and shared his favorite experiences with the people he loved. If you are close to Jim, you have a story or many stories that start out with” Jim took me to my first… or Jim showed me how to …. He enjoyed time with his grandchildren, camping, fishing, gardening, music, dogs (especially his dog and grand-dog), history and vacationing in Florida with Michelle. He is the founder of Noble Powder Coat and found happiness and pride in restoring family heirlooms for people.

“If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty
Except for the memory
Of how they were answered by you”

In his last days Jim spent time with his family in his home surrounded by unwavering love and eating strawberries from his garden. His last words spoken were ” Thank you baby” as he was covered up with blankets by my mother. In the early morning of May 23, 2024 he returned home to our Lord.

No services will be observed at this time. Chandler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724 has been entrusted to care for the family. Please join us in remembering Jim by visiting his memorial at www.ChandlerFuneralHome.net
