Taylor Final Pic

James “Jim” M. Taylor, 93 of New Concord, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the Cardinal Place in Cambridge surrounded by his family.

Jim was born on September 6, 1932, at home in New Concord. He is the son of the late K.T. and Hattie (Tom) Taylor.

He was a 1950 graduate of New Concord High School, where he lettered in three sports. After high school, Jim attended Muskingum College and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in business. He was a proud Korean War Veteran in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.

Jim married his college sweetheart, Patricia S. (Groitsch) Taylor, on September 10, 1955.

He worked in various office management positions until his retirement in 1994 from the Muskingum County Engineer’s Office. Jim enjoyed being involved in his community and the New Concord United Methodist Church. He was a proud member of the New Concord Lions Club and seventy-year member of the Malta Masonic Lodge #118.

Jim was an avid sports enthusiast. He was always cheering for his favorite sports team, The Ohio State Buckeyes. He loved following his grandchildren around to all of their sporting events.

If he was not watching sports, Jim could be found outside hunting, fishing, camping, or boating. Jim and Patricia traveled nearly across the entire country and went on four cruises. Every winter, they spent a month in Florida at the beaches with Jack and Sue.

Known for his warm heart and selfless nature, Jim was a people person who would talk your leg off if you would let him. He always brought a smile to someone’s face. He was never too busy to help a friend, neighbor, or stranger in need.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife of seventy years, Patricia; his daughter and son, Pam (Kevin) Hill and Scott (Kelly) Taylor; his grandchildren, Chad (Mackenzie) Ryan, Staci (Aaron) Mehling, Kenedi (Josh) Shver, as well as Kaden and Keston Taylor; his great-grandchildren, Tierra (Cooper) Ryan, Quinten Mehling, Harper and Koah Ryan; his several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; his brother, Jack (Sue) Taylor; his niece and nephew, Kathy (Kevin) Alton and Kevin (Cyndi) Taylor; as well as several great nieces and nephews, cousins, and countless friends and neighbors.

In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his parents-in-law, William and Ann Groitsch; his brother-in-law, Bill Groitsch; as well as his son in law, Jerry Ryan.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the Cardinal Place for their wonderful care towards Jim in his final days, as well as Pastor Amy Vittorio, for her kindness and compassion to Jim’s family.

In keeping with Jim’s wishes, a private family service will be held, and Jim will be laid to rest in the New Concord Cemetery.
