James Joseph Kobunski Sr. (August 3, 1935 – April 21, 2015)

ZANESVILLE

James Joseph Kobunski Sr. 79 of Zanesville went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday April 21, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Jim was born in Zanesville on August 3, 1935 to the late Andrew Samuel and Gertrude Marie Lightowler-Kobunski. Jim served in the United States Army National Guard for eight years. After graduating high school, Jim coached a Junior High School Basketball team at St. Nicholas and was the Manager of a Semi-Pro Baseball team called the Phi-Duncs. For ten years he worked at McGraw-Edison Company. Jim was an especially warm and loving husband and father, and dedicated in every way to his wife, children, their spouses and grandchildren. Jim was also devoted to his employment as General Manager and Vice President of Tansky, Inc. where he was employed for 50 years. He sincerely loved and cared for many employees and their families and returning customers throughout the years. He was a member of Muskingum Valley Vineyard Church in Zanesville.
He is survived by his loving wife Jo Ann Crowell Kobunski of the home, four children: Jeffrey (Karen) Kobunski of Zanesville, Andrea (David) McGlade of Zanesville, Joan (Shane) Tucker of Mason, and James (Sarah) Kobunski Jr. of Zanesville, and eight precious grandchildren whom he adored. His grandchildren are: Andrew and Peter Kobunski, Spencer and Emma McGlade, Griffin Tucker, and Naomi, Noah and Josiah Kobunski. Surviving also is a sister Joanne (Mike) Baughman of Crooksville and two special nephews: Jeff (Lisa) Baughman and Chris (Jan) Baughman. Jim also has two wonderful nieces: Michelle (Pete) Kobunski-Olvera of Hope Mills, NC and Christine Kacalo of Sturgeon Bay, WI. Additionally, he is survived by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces and cousins living throughout Ohio and Arkansas.
Jim was also preceded in death by a brother John Andrew Kobunski.

Calling hours will be 2-4 and 6-8pm on Friday April 24 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD ZANESVILLE. Funeral services will be at 11am on Saturday in the Snouffer Chapel with his son Pastor Jeffrey Kobunski officiating. Private family burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
