James Slack

James Arthur Slack, Jr., 68, of Crooksville, Ohio passed away at 3:50 PM, Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Genesis Emergency Room in Zanesville.
Jim was born Monday, August 5, 1957 in Zanesville, the son of the late James Arthur Slack, Sr. and Marlene (Russell) Wiseman.
Jim retired from Cerco Corporation, Cesco Plant in Crooksville after more than 37 years of service. Prior to that, he had been Benny Neff’s right-hand man on the Pepsi route delivering to local businesses for many years prior to his employment at Cerco. His leisure time hobbies were a love of classic cars. His prize possession was his 1977 Chevy Monza. He loved his 4-wheelers and street bike and was an avid OSU Buckeye’s fan. Jim was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed by all.
Left behind to mourn his passing is his wife of 47 years, Carol (Talbot) Slack; his beloved daughter and her significant other, Michelle Slack and Ryan Banik; his grandchild, Carsen Inman; his siblings, Kindle (Carl) Anker, Jeff Slack, Kevin (Nadine) Slack, Dustin (Stephanie) Slack and Kellee (Amie) Slack; his step-mother, Ina Georgene Slack; his sisters-in-law, Marsha (Berney) Harmon and Cheryl Talbot; his special niece, Natashua Slack and his grand-pups, Gemma and Slate.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Kregg Slack; his sister-in-law, Stephanie Slack and his brother-in-law, Rick Talbot. The family has chosen cremation for Jim, to mourn privately. There will be no visitation or services with burial of his cremated remains at a later date.
