Janice Renee (Martin) Stackhouse

Today, January 6, 2026, Janice Renee (Martin) Stackhouse, went home to be with her Lord and her family, peacefully and quietly after a sudden illness. She was surrounded by those who loved her.

She was born on November 6, 1961 in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Ray and Irene Martin. She graduated from Maysville High School class of 1980. She worked as a cashier and service associate for Big Bear until its closure. Then she went to college to continue serving our community at Zanesville Metropolitan Housing Office. Here she treated people with dignity as though they were her friends as well as clients. She was a devoted mother, sister, friend, and grandmother. She cherished her children and grandchildren. Her family and framily was her world. She loved the great outdoors. Hiking and long walks. Berry picking, mushroom hunting and working in her yard. She enjoyed traveling. Taking long car rides with her son Brandon. Spoiling her grandson Casen on weekends. And her “girl day trips” with her Besties. Shopping, eating out and just little getaways. She loved animals and could not leave a stray out in the cold. She found homes for countless pets and still has Hell Cat and Cricket. She was a good Christian woman, because she actually lived it.

She is survived by her son Brandon (Kacey) Stackhouse. Her grandson Casen Stackhouse. Her son Tanner Stackhouse. Grandchildren Bella and Cooper Stackhouse. Her special companion Perry Sowers. And three adopted by the heart sisters, Julie Ballensky, June Rose Combs, and Barbara Reed. Cousin Janice Rush. Best friends Beth Rice and Teresa Block.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Michael Martin. Her close circles were small, but she was known and loved by all.

Friends may call from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Saturday January 10, 2026 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home in White Cottage. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Muskingum County Animal Shelter or the Muskingum County K-9 Adoption Center.
