Janis Cavanaugh

Janis Ruth Cavanaugh, 74, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026 while in the care of the Normandy Care Center in Rocky River, Ohio. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Paul & Ailene (Zangelle) Bruney. She was a loving mother, and an amazing and dedicated grandmother who doted on her family. She could often be found playing Solitaire.

Janis is survived by her sons, Chris (Kasey) Cavanaugh and Chuck (Shawnte) Cavanaugh, her step-son, Brian Cavanaugh, her grandchildren, Aiden, Alex, Cierra, Caden, Cylee, Sydnee, and Matthew Cavanaugh, and her brother, Bob Bruney.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Daniel Cavanaugh, step-daughter-in-law, Janet Cavanaugh, her brother, Bill Bruney, and her dog, Bella.

A cremation will take place under the direction of BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE. A burial of ashes will follow at the McConnellsville Cemetery at a later date where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
