Jason Schooley

Schooley

Jason S. Schooley, 53, of Crooksville, known affectionately by friends and family as Schooley or Schoolhouse, brought an irrepressible spirit to the world when he was born on June 7, 1972, in Zanesville, Ohio. His journey through life was as vibrant and lively as the 80’s hair bands he adored, and sadly, that journey came to a peaceful end on December 16, 2025, at Genesis Hospice Morrison House. Jason’s life was a melody that resonated with joy, laughter, and a goofball charm that was truly one of a kind. Jason’s greatest hits included being the life partner and husband of 34 years to his rock, Alisha (Henning) Schooley. Together, they composed a family with harmonious notes in the form of their daughters, Rayne M. Schooley and Payton (Dallas) Hughes. He was the cherished son of Lonnie and Regina (Dusenberry) Schooley and the brother who could always be counted on for a laugh, Megan (John) Poore. Jason’s extended band members included his sister and brothers-in-law, Kelli (Joe) Broeckel, Michael (Dana) Henning, and Ryan (Lindsey) Smith. He also shared a special bond with his late brother, Aaron Schooley, and his lifelong friend and fellow prankster, Jason Tokie. His parents-in-law, Randy (Vicki) Smith, were part of his adoring fan base, and let’s not forget his grand pup, Kylo, along with his faithful fur companion, Motley, who was always by his side, especially during those head-banging moments. A proud graduate of Crooksville High School, Class of 1990, Jason carried the work ethic of a true laborer, dedicating his time to Cerco until his health took the spotlight. But it wasn’t his job that defined him; it was his role as a phenomenal husband, father, and friend. Jason was the founding member of the Four Horsemen, not the apocalyptic kind, but a brotherhood formed alongside Shad (Julie) Ross, Chad (Jennifer) Wood, and Shadd (Jennifer) Channel. They were the kind of friends who would take him out on the Sunset Strip and leave it wondering what hit them. Jason’s tales of their escapades could turn any gloomy day into an 80’s rock music video. He fought cancer like he lived life: with a courageous heart and a stubborn streak that refused to let the big ‘C’ steal his thunder. Jason was one of the strongest warriors you’d ever meet, and he faced his battle with the kind of humor that made you think he could knock out cancer with a one-liner. An avid lover of 80’s hair bands, especially Mötley Crüe, Jason could always be found with a soundtrack to match his mood. Whether he was cheering for the Cincinnati Reds, the Bengals, or THE Ohio State Buckeyes, you’d hear him before you saw him. And if you couldn’t find him, he was probably engrossed in the Pat McAfee show, tuned in so hard he wouldn’t notice you. To say Jason was friendly, funny, and courageous would be an understatement. He was the kind of guy who would light up a room with his presence and leave you in stitches with his quick wit. His legacy is one of joy, resilience, and the kind of laughter that echoes in the hearts of those he’s left behind. Jason, the world was your stage, and while the curtain may have closed on your performance, your encore will live on in the stories we share and the smiles you’ve left behind. Family and friends are invited to gather Friday December 19, 2025, from 4pm – 7pm at Ross-Frash Funeral Home 207 Burley Street Crooksville, donning their favorite Bengals, Reds, or Ohio State attire at the request of the family.
