Jay L. Clark, 74, of Newark, died Sunday, March 2, 2025, peacefully at his home following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born October 29, 1950, in Zanesville, the son of William F. “Bill” and Margaret “Ruth” (Burkhard) Clark, and was a 1968 graduate of Tri-Valley High School.

Jay served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy, during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1972. He was employed with Ohio Power and Hanby Farms. Jay will be remembered for cheering the loudest while supporting all the sporting activities of his children and friends.

Jay had a passion for racing including NASCAR and drag racing; hanging out with his buddies at the local dirt tracks were some of his favorite times. He spent many years volunteering for the West Muskingum Athletic Boosters and Jay was a lifelong member of the Dresden American Legion.

Jay is survived by his children, Tom (Jessica) Clark of Glenford, Lisa (Jimmy Krueger) Clark of Newark, and Stephanie (Craig) Sharrer of Zanesville; one brother, Jim (Ann) Clark of Coshocton; two sisters, Cindy (Jim) Kronenbitter and Cathy (Dave Watson) Clark of Westerville; one brother-in-law, Terry King and several nieces, nephews and many close friends.

In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by one sister, Christine King and one sister & brother-in-law, Constance & Clyde Buckmaster.
