Jay Gruenebaum

Jay Jules Gruenebaum, 81 of Zanesville died at 5:56 AM Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Laurels of Worthington in Worthington Ohio.
He was born December 5, 1943, in Cincinnati and raised in Springfield, OH, the son of Jules Gruenebaum and Betty Jane Henderson Gruenebaum.
Jay graduated from Shawnee High in Springfield and from the University of Toledo. As a junior tennis player, he was state and nationally ranked and attended college on a full tennis scholarship. He was later inducted to the Shawnee High Tennis Hall of Fame. Jay was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and was employed as a Stockbroker for most of his life. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Bengals fan, never missing a game no matter how scratchy the radio reception. Jay enjoyed horse racing both as a race horse owner and from behind the TV. He had a knack for picking the winner in any race.
He is survived by his wife Lois Jean Hammer Gruenebaum; two daughters, Lauren & Jena; a son, Ben, and a sister, Jane Gruenebaum. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held Thursday January 16th from 12:00 to 2:00 PM, ending with Military Honors at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home.
