Jeffrey Greiner

Jeffrey Allen Greiner Jr. accepted the invitation to the big party in the sky, on Friday September 13, 2024, at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville.
Although he was diagnosed with A.L.S. and it may have dampened his spirit, ability to walk, and his beer drinking capabilities, a blood clot caused by A-Fib took his life.
Big Al -1 A.L.S.- 0
In his short 47 years, he went by many names and touched a lot of people’s lives. Jeffrey, Jeff, Allen, Big Al, and his proudest name, Dad. He was born on May 13, 1977 (Friday the 13th), in Zanesville, Ohio, son of the late Jeffrey “Flip” Greiner Sr. and Debra (Cochran) Greiner. As he always said, he lived the good life of being an only child for a few years, until his brothers, Paul “Peewee” Greiner and Michael “Mikie” Greiner came along. Allen eventually would come to adore being a brother and was beyond grateful for them. He was proud to call Shanda and Kristina his sister-in-laws and even more proud being named an uncle to Miccah, Roscoe, Emmy, Paige; and a great uncle to Dayton and Laydon. He loved telling and hearing funny stories about his brothers and especially loved going to races with them, mainly at his favorite track, Eldora Speedway, while rooting for the G.O.A.T., Scott Bloomquist. Just days before his untimely passing, Jeff had the chance to go to the World 100 with his family, which they will forever be thankful for.
Jeff joined the Union in August of 1999 and started working at the Shelley Co. soon after. The Shelley Co. and the Local 530 Union lost as he would say, “the best employee and co-worker”. Jeff Addias, Mike Haendiges, Richie Boring, Larry Pool, and so many more got the rare privilege of getting to work alongside one of the greats, the big ole, Jeff Greiner!
When he was laid off and laid up, with his recent disability, he found friendships with his gamer friends, Butcher, Hot Rod, Vod, Supermum, and his Cool Kids clan. He loved you all!
From impromptu singing to hilarious family gatherings, all of his family, friends, co-workers, and gaming friends brought joy and a sense of purpose to Allen’s life that he cherished deeply.
Allen, you were our greatest “hello”, but our hardest “goodbye”.
Jeff leaves behind his loving wife, Deana Greiner, whom he met in 1995 and married March 2, 2006; brothers, Paul (Shanda) Greiner and Mikie (Kristina) Greiner; daughter and baby girl, Sydnee “Squidnee” (Caydon Sowers) Greiner; son and baby boy, Tanner “Tanner Bug” (MyKenna Shoemaker) Greiner; future grandson, Kaizyn Reid Greiner, whom will be here around December 2024; 2 uncles: Dennis Cochran and his favorite uncle to play darts and party with, Robert “Big Rob” Greiner; 2 puppies: Mary Jane “MJ, Dirt Dog, Deer Dog” and Saydee ‘The Weird One”; grand puppy, Shadow, who he loved to spend the night with, constantly telling her to stay off of his feet; special friends, Brady Stottsberry, Steve Wilson, Rusty Hina, Tony “Boomer” Hina, and many others. Most of his friendships started in Elementary School, and when you become a friend of Big Al’s you were a friend for life.
In addition, Allen sadly leaves behind his brother, cousin, best friend, and all-around favorite human, Robert “Rob Paul” Greiner, who took on the roles of brother, protector, and the only human brave enough to endure Allen’s endless supply of punderful jokes. Don’t worry, Rob Paul’s wife, Stacy, was well aware of this unique bond; after all, she’s the only one who could appreciate Allen’s notorious sense of humor as much as he did!
Allen was also a beloved uncle to the fabulous trio of Greiner girls-Josey, Katie, and Kassie- who always stepped in to help their Uncle Al when he needed them the most.
Allen is preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Paul and Joan Cochran; paternal grandparents, Robert “Peepaw” and Bonnie Greiner; uncle, Doug Cochran; aunt, Connie Greiner.; along with a countless number of friends, co-workers, and extended family.
After his passing, Jeff gave the gift of life to others by organ donation, donating his heart valves and vascular tissue.
His family and loved ones ask that if you feel the need to do something in his name, please donate to the A.L.S. registry or grab yourself a 30 pack of Busch Light and crank up ‘Old Violine’ or ‘My ding a ling’ and sing at the top of your lungs in his memory.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday September 21, 2024, at 3:00 PM at 3960 Darlington Dr. Zanesville, Ohio. Bring a dish and drinks!
DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
