Jeffrey Hall

Jeffrey Lane Hall, age 76, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away on April 12 at his home surrounded by his family following a brief illness.
Born on April 18, 1949 in Zanesville, he was the son of Russell Eugene and Francis Pauline Walker Hall. He graduated from Zanesville High School in 1967 and served in the Army as an infantryman immediately after.
During his time in the military, Jeff served as an Engineer Equipment Maintenance Crewman. It was here that he honed his lifelong talent for mechanics; he was a man who could fix anything, a skill that stayed with him long after his service ended. He served proudly in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal and Bronze Service Stars. Outside of his family, Jeff’s service to his country was one of the proudest accomplishments of his life.
In 1970, shortly after concluding his service to his country, Jeff wed the love of his life, Mary Arnold. Members of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, their marriage marked the start of a deep and lasting partnership. That same year, he joined Central Ohio Coal, dedicating 33 years of expert craftsmanship as a diesel mechanic before his eventual retirement. He chaired efforts which resulted in the Miner’s Memorial Park in McConnelsville, Ohio and was a proud, lifelong member and one time vice president of United Mine Workers of America, Local #1604. He was a man who believed in hard work and even harder devotion to his family.
Jeff never outgrew his love for a good prank or a tall tale. A gifted storyteller with a twinkle in his eye, he knew exactly how to brighten someone’s day. While he enjoyed the fun of a clever joke, his greatest joy was found in the quiet, steadfast love he shared with his family, who remained the center of his world until the very end.
He is survived by his loving children, Angeline (Mike) Wagner; Lori (Kelly) Guyll; Lesley (Josh) Ables; Jeffrey (LeighAnn) Hall, his cherished grandchildren, Emily Roberts and Macy Bowman, Olivia and Mason Guyll, Hannah and Halen Hall and great grandchildren Karley Roberts and Aleah and Alaina Bowman as well as his steadfast companion the past 6 years, his dog Daisy. He also leaves behind his siblings Susie Williams and Joel Hall and sisters in law Amy Mesre, Joanna Arnold and Debbie Hall as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mary (2020), his parents, siblings Cheryl Stephenson, John (Carol) Hall, and many other beloved family members.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made directly to The Veteran’s Appreciation Foundation.
