Jeffrey M. “Coach” Keller died at his home surrounded by family on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, after a lengthy battle of heart and kidney disease. Jeff was born May 16, 1949 in Zanesville, a son of the late Frank and Louella (Gooden) Keller. He graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor degree in Education.
He retired in 2007, after 35 years, from Tri-Valley Middle School where he was a language arts teacher. He influenced many students’ lives through the Tri-Valley Middle School Christmas Woodworking Club and Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs. Jeff enjoyed 70 incredible seasons of coaching multiple sports. Along with receiving the OMSA Outstanding Work with Middle School Students Award, the OAT/CCC Coach Longevity Award, Track Coach of the Year in 1991 and Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2003, he will be remembered for the positive impact he made on the lives of all he encountered.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 45 years Janice Hoops Keller; daughter Jennifer (Matt) McCollister and grandchildren Emma and Addy McCollister of New Albany, OH; son Jason (Robin) Keller and grandchildren Logan, Louella and Chloe Keller of Erie, PA.
Calling hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Monday, April 25, 2016 in the Snouffer Chapel with Pastor Linda Morrow officiating. Entombment will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park Mausoleum.
