Jingle For Jesus

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Trulight Ministries is hosting a walkathon this weekend to help local homeless people this holiday season.

Jingle for Jesus is this Saturday at 6 p.m. and starts at Trulight Ministries, located at 807 Putnam Avenue in Zanesville. From there, participants will walk through downtown singing carols and raising money for a local cause.

“I look forward to just the fellowship, getting together and hanging out with people and we go around and sing Christmas carols. We’re actually going to walk from here up to the courthouse. When we get to the courthouse, we’ll sing some Christmas carols there at the courthouse have a time of prayer,” Pastor Ed Swartz said. “And then, we will walk back to Trulight again, singing Christmas carols. Just trying to spread some holiday cheer and when we get back here, we’ll just have some hot chocolate and some cookies for those that go out and participate and just enjoy each others time and at the same time hopefully raise some funds for our homeless ministry. ”

According to Swartz, the first Jingle for Jesus last year saw more than 20 participants and raised more than $7,000 for programs that Trulight Ministries operates for low-income and homeless community members.

“… all the proceeds go into our homeless ministry which is our feeding program where we serve free breakfast. We have a day shelter where the homeless can come in and we can offer them showers, we can offer them laundry facilities, and just last night we started our winter shelter. So, we are offering them a place to stay and sleep during the winter so that they’re not sleeping outside in the cold,” Swartz said.
