John E. Hajjar, 73, of Zanesville, met his Lord and Savior at 1:05 A.M. on Monday, September 14, 2015, at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House. He was born April 13, 1942, in Waterbury, CT, a son of Marie Soloman Hajjar of San Marcos, CA, and the late Edward Hajjar. He retired in 2010 as a financial advisor for Merrill Lynch, was a member of New Hope Full Gospel Church where he served faithfully for the past 22 years. He was a United States Navy Veteran, had served as Executive Director of the Civic League Community Center, as Interim Director of the Carr Center, and had been a part of the Muskingum County Jail Ministries for 15 years.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his loving wife Rowena L. Harvey Hajjar; three sons, Michael (Valerie) Hajjar of Mt. Vernon, Shane (Tracy) Hajjar of Chardon, and Abraham Hajjar of Zanesville; three daughters, Jennifer (Chris) Gensler of Mercer, PA, Stephanie (Chris) Damson of Newark and Amanda Goins of Zanesville; two brothers, Mark (Debra) Hajjar of San Diego, CA and Scott Hajjar of San Marcos, CA; a sister Barbara Taylor of Encinitas, CA; twelve grandchildren, Zachary, Gabriel, Canaan, Heather, Natalie, Skyler, Nathan, Emily, Christopher, Chad (Heather), Dallas and Logan; and four great grandchildren, Kennedy, Elijah, Skylin and Oakley.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his daughter Tambrey.

At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help defray funeral costs; the New Hope Full Gospel Church: 3550 East Pike, Zanesville, Ohio 43701; or to Genesis Hospice-Morrison House: 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.

Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 P.M. & 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 17, 2015, at, New Hope Full Gospel Church, 3550 East Pike, Zanesville, and one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, September 18, 2015, with Rev. Joseph A. DiVincenzo officiating. He will be laid to rest at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Zanesville.
