John Glenn Flag Football and Cheer raising money for Childhood Cancer Research

Next Saturday John Glenn gets in on the football fun by starting with their own flag football and cheer league. September 27th will be their first ever Going Gold event getting to see young kids K through 6 have a blast on the field and the best part about this non-profit is their first event all proceeds are going to Childhood Cancer Research and Awareness. If you donate by joining the raffle you will have a chance to win signed footballs and memorabilia from all your favorite local teams.

Mandy Williams the President of John Glenn flag football and cheer stated, ” we saw a need for flag football in our community. And I think our community saw that as well, because we are a local nonprofit. We have 250 kids, and we serve the East Muskingum School District. Ages kindergarten through sixth grade. We first of all, we found that sports really bring people together, and we wanted to leverage that energy to give back in a bigger way. We also know that 1 in 300 kids are diagnosed with cancer by the age of 20. It’s also the leading cause of disease related death for kids up to age 15. And those are very sobering statistics. But I think they remember, or they help us remember why it’s important to fight this fight, and also why every dollar counts.”
Going Gold will be at John Glenn Football field September 27th from 9 to Noon if you want in on the fun.
