John Glenn Track and Cross Country Launching Performance and Wellness Center Campaign

NEW CONCORD, OH – It is a major step forward for two of the top programs in recent Muskingum Valley League history, as both the track and field as well as the cross country teams at John Glenn High School are launching a campaign to create performance and wellness centers at the high school.
Per a release from the programs, generous early support from donors have give the Muskies a head start on their goals, helping secure two rooms within the school to be transformed, specifically for the athletes. However, more funding would go a long way to achieving those aforementioned goals.
“Our goal is not simply to fill rooms with equipment. We want to create spaces that our athletes are proud of, spaces that encourage excellence, support wellness, and strengthen our program’s culture” says coach Doug Joy, who oversees the boys cross country and both boys and girls track and field teams.
The Muskies say that one room will serve as a “performance center”, focused on strength development, conditioning, and supplemental training. Room number two will act as a “wellness center”, providing a welcoming environment for recovery, team meetings, academic support, and athlete connection. While the goal is to strengthen and grow the programs at John Glenn, it’s about growing the young men and women as people, as well as athletes.
Joy continues, “We want these spaces to help students develop healthy habits, build confidence, recover properly, support one another, and become stronger people, not just stronger runners.”
“When athletes walk into these rooms, we want them to know that generations of alumni, families, businesses, and supporters come together to invest in their success.”
Among the anticipated features in the rooms will include commercial-grade fitness equipment, recovery and wellness resources, collaborative meeting areas, comfortable seating, motivational displays, and dedicated spaces celebrating the history and accomplishments from the programs.
Any Muskies cross country or track and field alum who contributes $100 or more will have their name added to the Alumni Recognition Wall, which is one of the many new projects in development with these new centers. In addition to alumni support, the campaign is seeking partnerships with external business, foundations, organizations, families, and leaders. Donor recognition levels include the following:
Bronze: $1,000-$2,499
Silver: $2,500-$4,999
Gold: $5,000-$9,999
Platinum: $10,000+
