Hartzler John

John A. Hartzler, 81 of Zanesville, died 7:52 PM, Monday, March 4, 2024, at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. He was born Monday, March 1, 1943, in Bellefontaine, the son of Earl M. Hartzler and M. Katherine (Thoman) Hartzler. He married Lou Ann J. (Piotrowski) Hartzler on Saturday, October 12, 1968.

John served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He operated his own Real Estate Appraisal Firm for many years and was a member of the Rotary Club of Zanesville and the Zanesville Country Club. John was an avid golfer and enjoyed being an owner of Hartzler ChristmasTree Farm in West Liberty. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who greatly enjoyed the time he spent with them. John was admired by his sons and grandchildren and was included in many major decisions for his wise advice.

In addition to his wife Lou Ann, John is survived by three sons: Mark Hartzler of Eaton, Steven Hartzler of Zanesville & David Hartzler of Wilmington, NC; four grandchildren: Austin Hartzler and his fiancée, Raegan McGuire, Elizabeth Hartzler, Sarah Hartzler & Ava Hartzler; two great grandchildren, Owen John Hartzler and Willow Mae Hartzler and two special friends, Tod & Melanie Klotzbach.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by one sister: Jenny Mishler.

Private Graveside Services will take place in Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty, with full military honors conducted by the United States Air Force and Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
