John M. Lee, 72, of Byesville, passed away Thursday (July 9, 2026) at AlterCare of Cambridge.

He was born April 4, 1954 in Windsor MO, son of the late Milton N. Lee and Mary Winnifred (Beachy) Lee.

John spent his career self employed in the transportation field, but his heart was often in the workshop or the garden. He loved crafting wooden lawn furniture, with swings being his favorite project, and he nurtured his garden with the same care he gave to the people he loved. Family meant everything to him. John’s deep faith guided him throughout his life, and he was steadfast in his belief in God.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three children: Sarah, Lester, and Nathan Lee; his siblings: Elizabeth Shrock, Fannie Yoder, William Lee, Noah Lee, Jacob Lee, and a stillborn sibling, Mosie Lee; and a son-in-law, Timothy Cain.

John is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Pearl (Woodring) Lee, whom he married April 1, 1976; his three daughters: Lizzie (Dewey) Turbeville of Sardis, Miriam Cain of Sardis, and Laura Lee of Byesville; his sister, Naomi (Simon) Burkholder of Keytesville MO; his two grandchildren: Amy Cain and Jessi Cain; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held Tuesday (July 14, 2026) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Assembly of God Church, Byesville, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Chaplain Greg Black officiating. Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, is handling arrangements.
