John Mcintire Library Showcase Children’s Art Skills With Ornaments on Community Christmas Tree
ZANESVILLE, Ohio-Â The John Mcintire Library has an opportunity to showcase children’s creative sides.
In collaboration with the Story Book Christmas the Muskingum County Library Systems is offering children a chance show off their artistic abilities by decorating a wooden ornament. Assistant Director, Blair Tom said this is another way to engage the community.
“Provide opportunities for young people to explore their creativity and discover the kinds of opportunities and then feel apart of a larger project as well” said Tom. “So, this a project and partnership that allows the library to get apart of that greater whole.”
The wooden ornaments that the library provides for the children are cut and painted by students at Mid-East Career and Technology Center. After the ornament is decorated it is then placed on the community Christmas tree just outside the library.
“It’s really impressive the way that students working together and the skills that they are learning in the classrooms” said Tom.
“Then provides something for community celebration. That then children can use as an interactive learning opportunity at the library and addition to the way the area is beautified for holidays. It’s real learning, collaboration and synergy going on the library is just honored to be apart all of that.”
The ornaments are available for decoration during regular business hours. Just simply ask for them at the children’s service desk. The ornaments will remain on display on the community Christmas tree throughout the holiday season.
