John Montgomery Passes Away at Age of 83

A prominent member of our community has passed away.

John Montgomery, who had been in failing health for several months, passed away Thursday at the age of 83. Originally from Lancaster, he graduated from Ohio State University and went on to work as a local banker and also sold insurance.

Montgomery was actively involved with the Muskingum County 4-H program where he served as an advisor for 62 years. He was also an active member of Ark Spring Baptist Church.

Montgomery is preceded in death by his daughter Nancy and is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy. He is also survived by his daughter Susan and her husband James McDonald, and two grandchildren, Jack and Eli.

Arrangements will be made at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home. The family says he lived a beautiful life with a peaceful end, and they want to thank the community for their love and support.
