Jack McMahon, 88, of Dresden, died peacefully at his home on July 6, 2024. He was born at the home of his maternal grandparents in West Virginia and was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Bessie McMahon. He married Donna Jean Collins on June 30, 1957, in Marietta, OH.
He graduated from Lower Salem High School, Ohio University and completed 32 years of military service in the Air Force and fulltime in the Air National Guard, retiring as a Colonel in 1994. He was a lifetime aviation enthusiast and pilot. Jack enjoyed many flying trips throughout the United States and Canada with his dear flying friends. He was also an avid supporter of public libraries and was active in civic and fraternal organizations.
He and Donna enjoyed worldwide travel and adventures and especially enjoyed Europe, the Caribbean and rafting the Grand Canyon and Alaska. He is survived by his wife, his three children Steven (Jeanie) McMahon, David McMahon (John Erdman), Kim (Mike) Clark. His grandchildren, Kayla, Abby, Connor, Mason, and Mariah and his great grandchildren, Grant, Stan, Frank, Mya and Evie. He Dearly loved and valued his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Cliff McMahon.
Following a caring cremation, a private celebration of life is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to The Morrison House Hospice, 713 Forest Ave., Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
