Jones Pleads Not Guilty In Fatal Accident
A Zanesville man is facing charges in connection with a fatal accident in August of 2011 where it’s not clear who was driving. The Muskingum County Prosecutor’s office says that 66-year-old John Jones is facing one count of aggravated vehicular homicide and one count of operating a motor vehicle under the influence. In 2011 the Highway Patrol said the driver 60-year-old Ricky Kirby and then 63-year-old John Jones were heading south on State Route 60 when their car went off the side of the road, hit a guardrail and overturned ejecting Kirby and killing him. Jones suffered minor injuries. The prosecutor’s office must believe that Jones was the driver that day due to the charges filed against him. Jones was arraigned on Wednesday in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court and entered a plea of not guilty to both charges. Judge Kelly Cottrill continued Jones’ bond at 100-thousand dollars.
