Joyce Arnold

Joyce Margaret (Gram) Arnold, 89, of Summerfield, Ohio passed away on Friday July 31, 2026 at Genesis Hospital.
Joyce was born in Akron, Ohio on March 13, 1937 to the late Hudson and Margaret Sadler Surgen. She was a graduate of West High School in Akron. Gram was a homemaker and enjoyed playing Bingo, Cards, and Puzzles and enjoyed spoiling her dog Rosie and her cat Sunny. She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and would coach them from her chair. Most of all she loved her family and spending time with them. She attended Faith Baptist Church in Belle Valley and was affectionately known as “Gram” by everyone that knew her.
She is survived by a daughter: Susan (Robert) Scarpitti, two brothers: George Surgen and Jerry (Debbie) Surgen, two sisters: Kathy (Denny) Tyson and Sandy (Kevin) Bell, a sister-in-law: Judy Surgen, Three grandchildren: Angela (Matt) Gordon, Amber (Stewart) Scarpitti-Szeremet, and Anthony (Jordan) Scarpitti, Seven great-grandchildren: Hannah Scarpitti, Nickole (Jordan) Drum, Christopher Gordon, Adyson Szeremet, Payton Szeremet, Olivia Scarpitti, and Jack Scarpitti, and one great-great-grandson: Jackson Drum.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her Husband Jack Arnold who passed away on August 15, 2005, a son Jackie Arnold who passed away July 1, 1978 and two brothers: Nick (Shirley) Surgen and Jim Surgen.
Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Friday August 7 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD ZANESVILLE, OHIO. Funeral services will be held at 9am on Saturday in The Snouffer Chapel with Pastor Stephen Hannum officiating. Burial will follow in North Lawn Memorial Gardens 4724 State Road Peninsula, Ohio 44264.
