Zanesville Junior Pioneers to visit Ohio Statehouse

ZANESVILLE, OHIO-Â The Zanesville Junior Pioneers are taking a trip to Columbus on Wednesday to be recognized for their AAABA Championship win this past summer.
Ohio Senator Troy Balderson has invited the Pioneers to the Statehouse to be recognized for their championship win over Johnstown back in August.
Recently retired head coach of the pioneers, David Balo, said that he’s excited to see some of his players again.
“Personally I’m looking forward to see those guys again,” said Balo. Â “It was something special that we did this summer and I enjoyed being around those guys.”
Balo said that his team’s success wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work from his players throughout the season and the support of the Muskingum Valley Old Timers.
“The Old Timers are a big supporter of local baseball and I don’t know if people really quite understand everything that they provide for the youth of the community.”
Balo said that he still plans on to help out with the pioneers and coach for Zanesville High School.
