Karen Chorjel

Karen Elaine Chorjel, 53, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025, at Genesis Hospital.
Born on May 3, 1971, in Zanesville, Karen is the daughter of Barbara Chorjel and the late Jerry “Pete” Chorjel.
Karen dedicated her career to helping others and working hard. She was employed at Fanatics and previously worked in the shipping department at the Avon Company. Earlier in her career, she provided compassionate care as a home health care provider.
Karen was a proud member of Philo United Methodist Church. She had a deep love for her pets, especially her beloved dog, Riley, and her cat, Lincoln. An avid Michigan football fan, Karen enjoyed cheering on her favorite teams and had a special passion for watching NASCAR. In earlier years, she found joy in bowling and participated in a league at Sunrise Bowling Alley.
Karen is survived by her loving mother, Barbara Chorjel; her aunt, Juanita Bliss; her uncle, Dave Chorjel; and numerous cousins, including Tommy Hartman, Susan Ault, Moni Nalls, Thomanitah Bliss, Kim Hartman, Tim Hartman, Greg Stewart, Cheryl Stevens, Gloria Messman, Brenda Armstrong, Doug Stewart, David Stewart, and Janeen Baker.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry “Pete” Chorjel; her paternal grandparents, Chester and Winifred Chorjel; her maternal grandparents, Lewis and Emma Emler; her aunts, Margaret “Maggie” Hartman, Evelyn Hartman, and Mary Ann Dumolt; and her uncles, Herman Chorjel, James Emler, Claude “Jr” Stewart, Bernie Stewart, and Thomas Stewart and her cousin, Darin Bliss.
A private funeral service will be held, and Karen will be laid to rest beside her father in Duncan Falls Cemetery.
