Karen Jean Johnson, age 78 of Zanesville, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at her home. She was born on September 5, 1947 in Tokyo, Japan, a daughter of the late Barbara Sibley and Kenneth Reed Sibley.
Karen attended Brewer High School in Brewer, Maine. She was a member of the Women’s Army Corps and was stationed in Belgium. She enjoyed reading, knitting, going out to eat, and spending time with her friends and family. Being a grandmother and great-grandmother was the greatest joy of her life. She was truly their biggest fan with whatever activities they were in involved in.
Karen retired from the City of Cambridge Income Tax Department as a Tax Administrator. She served as the secretary for the Guernsey County Veterans Service Commission for many years and was the first female on the commission. She was active in the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Guernsey Chapter 28; the American Legion Post 84; and the Disabled Military Veterans (DMV) of Guernsey County. She was proud to serve the veterans of Guernsey County.
She was preceded in death by her parents, many extended family members, and a great-granddaughter, Lannie Boyd.
She leaves: her son Jack P. (Sherry) Johnson II; daughter Michelle Johnson; grandchildren, Taryn Payton, Ashley Johnson, Conner (Emily) Johnson, Jaelyn Davis, Reed Johnson, Rogan Johnson, Mya Carter and Valynn Johnson; great-grandchildren, Laighla Boyd, Jordyn Davis, Dalen Ford, Kaiser Wisecarver, Jonas Johnson, Ellery Richardson and one on the way; a brother Steve (Sonia) Sibley; a sister Anne Hannan; nieces and nephews, Carrie Landes, Angela (David) Emerson, Erika Quick, Ryan (Mary Anne) Sibley, Shawn Johnson and Pam Buckey; the Father of her children Jack P. (Connie) Johnson I; daughter-in-law Jennifer Johnson; special friends, Steve & Melinda Ford, Jody Payton and Lila Johnson.
Visitation will be at Bundy-Law Funeral Home on Monday, March 30, 2026 from 3pm to 6pm with a service at 6pm. Roger Bailey will officiate. Military Honors will be performed in the parking lot following the service. Memorial donations may be made to Genesis Hospice at 713 Forest Avenue Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
