Kathleen Ann (Drake) Hurst
Kathleen Ann (Drake) Hurst, 91, of Roseville, Ohio, passed away at Genesis Hospital on Thursday, January 26, 2023 following a short illness. Katheleen was born June 13, 1931, daughter of the late Albert E. and Hazel F. (Fuller) Drake, of Morgan County, Ohio. In addition to her parents, Kathleen is also preceded in death by two brothers; and one sister.
Kathleen was married for 72 wonderful years to her beloved husband, Lester E. Hurst, of Roseville. She also leaves to cherish her memory, her four cherished children, Cheryl Ann (Frank) Saab, of Duluth, GA, Daryl E. (Karen) Hurst, of Philo, OH, Caryl Kathleen (Steve) Lattimer, of Dresden, OH, and Teryl Leslie (Bruce) Todd, of Jackson, AL. Their four children blessed Kathleen and Lester with 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Don (Linda) Drake, of Malta, OH.
Along with enjoying her family, Ann enjoyed her second family, made up of the children she fed while working as a cook for Roseville Middle School, where she was affectionately known as ‘Grandma’. She retired at the youthful age of 81. Kathleen also enjoyed cooking and preparing food for the many activities at Norval Park Church of Christ. She was well known for her homemade noodles and fresh baked pies, and of course, cooking for her family. Kathleen was a lifelong sports fan who loved to cheer for the Cincinnati Bengals and Reds, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and she loved to watch and root for her grandchildren at their various sporting events. She enjoyed things that challenged her mind, such as word searches and crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Ann also loved to sew and worked at various sewing and material centers. She worked for the Zanesville Times Recorder and the Newark Advocate Newspaper as well as assisting her husband with their TV business, Hurst TV. Kathleen was a wonderful Christian woman, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed by the many lives she touched.
You may call on the family Monday, January 30, 2023 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., at Burrell Funeral Services, 414 LaSalle St., in Zanesville. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at 11 a.m., at the Norval Park Church of Christ, 845 Arch St., in Zanesville. Son Daryl Hurst officiating. Kathleen’s body will be laid to rest at the Rosehill Cemetery, but her soul rests in the arms of The LORD.
