Kathryn Gess (November 29, 1924 – May 2, 2012)

Kathryn K.(Katie) Gess, 87 of Zanesville, passed away at 11:00 pm Wednesday May 2, 2012 at the home of her daughter.
Katie was born November 29, 1924 in Salamanca NY, the daughter of Lawrence and Erma Keenen. She graduated from Brockway-Snyder High School in 1942. She worked for Pennsylvania Bell and Ohio Bell for nearly 30 years. She was a member of St. Nichols Catholic Church. Katie loved to dance, swim, paint and care for her grandchildren, great grandchildren and pets.
Surviving her are children: William L. (Jan) Gess of Las Vegas, NV, Kathleen A. Larson of Zanesville, Mary Ann (Bill) Menhorn of Zanesville and Larry R. (Micki) Gess of Indian Park, IL. Grandchildren Kelly Winder, Jennifer Coe, Robin Shupert, David Gess, Jon (Stacey) Larson, Amy (Kerry) Morgan, Christopher Menhorn, Bill, Tom and Laura Gess. 10 Great grandchildren, a sister, Margaret McMeekin of Brockway PA, and 2 brothers, Charles of Lancaster New York and Lawrence of Banning, CA., many cousins, nieces and nephews and special friends and caretakers, Dottie Corson., Maria Malone and Bev Wallace.
Katie was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Gess to whom she was married for nearly 60 years, her parents and a special niece, Ellen McMeekin.
Friends may call Friday, May 4th from 2-4 and 6-8 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 W. MILITARY RD., ZANESVILLE, OH.
Funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday May 5th at 10:30 am at St. Nichols Catholic Church, 925 Main Street, Zanesville Ohio with Father Martin Ralko officiating.
Burial will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the “Make a Wish†Foundation , Genesis Hospice or the Muskingum County Animal Shelter.
