Kay Garber Memorial Ride for the American Cancer Society

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Barn will be holding a benefit bike ride for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, on Saturday Aug, 26th.
It will be the second year where it’s named in memory of Kay Garber. The Kay Garber Memorial Run is named after a former Auto Zone worker who passed away from cancer. This will be the 9th annual American Cancer Society Poker Run. Auto Zone and The Barn work together to put on this event.
“Kay was a long time auto-zoner,” said Operations Manager for Auto Zone Distribution Center in Zanesville, Bill Harper. “She was a great lady. I worked with Kay for many years. When Kay passed away (from cancer), it was sudden. We’re able to rename the American Cancer Society Relay for Life memorial for her is just great.”
The owner of The Barn, Jim Watson, said there will be two concerts as well as other activities going on throughout the day. All the money goes to a great cause.
“Everybody meets up at the Barn at 10:30 and the event gets started,” said Watson. “Then everybody goes on a ride and meets back up here. 100 percent of all the proceeds go back to the American Cancer Society. It’s $10 per person for the event. There will be food and entertainment provided by The Barn, when everybody gets back. It’s a great way to come out and fight for a cure.”
The Poker Run starts at 10:30 in the morning.
