Kay Miller, 85, of Zanesville, passed away at her home on Thursday May 28, 2026. She was born on March 14, 1941 in Dayton, Ohio, a daughter of the late Clanton L. and Mary Belle Brake Lewis. She grew up in Webster Springs, WV. She was parented by her aunt and uncle, the late Fred and Martha Lewis. She graduated from Webster Springs (WV) High School in 1959. She attended Florida Southern University, graduated with a BA Degree in Education from West Virginia Wesleyan University in 1963. Graduated with a MA Degree in Special Education from the Ohio State University in 1969. She did postgraduate work from Ohio University and Ashland University. She spent 38 years in public education, teacher for 17 years working for Miamisburg, Columbus and Cambridge City Schools and West Muskingum Local School District. She retired from Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center where she served as Curriculum Supervisor, Director of Gifted Programs, Director of Personnel and Communications and Professional Development Coordinator for 21 years. Kay was called to live out her Christian faith by supporting her community through various ministries of the Rolling Plains Global Methodist Church, including Bethel Community Center. She was nurtured by many mentors in her lifetime, her desire was to “pass on” the same love and encouragement to family, grandchildren, friends, church family, and youth. She is survived by stepson and wife Jeffrey (Lynn) Stone of Wisconsin. Stepson Gregory Miller. Grandchildren Sean (Chelsea) Miller, Sarah (D.J.) Pierce, Jacob (Hye Jin) Imlay, and Austin Harter. Five great-grandchildren. One brother Charles Lewis. Several nieces and a nephew. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Larry D. Miller. Stepdaughter Karen Harter. One sister Margaret Ann Lewis. One brother Philip Lewis. Friends may call from 2:00 -4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday June 2, 2026 at Rolling Plains Global Methodist Church 3350 Moxahala Park Road Zanesville, Ohio and one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday June 3, 2026 at the church with Pastor John Alice and Pat Wiseman-Jones officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Zanesville Memorial Park. William Thompson & Son Funeral Home in White Cottage is assisting the family.
