Kids Take Over Pick ‘N’ Save
South Zanesville’s Pick ‘N’ Save parking lot is a lot quieter tonight, and there aren’t as many kids around.
The sixth annual Kidsfest, put on by Big Brothers Big Sisters and the WHIZ Media Group, took place this afternoon from noon to three and was a success.
“It always starts out a little slow, and as the day wears on, once we get to the one, two o’clock hour, then you’re going to see a big up in the crowd, ” says Columbus Blue Jackets Fan Development Manager, Joel Singman.
Kids were able to get their faces painted, to have balloon animals made, and to see local law enforcements’ K-9 units-to name a few things.
Singman, also had a tent on hand for Kidsfest and brought some street hockey to the Y-city.
“They love it. They love getting a stick in their hand. Lot of them have never had a stick in their hand before. So, we have to show them how to hold it. It’s not quite like a baseball bat or a golf club, but once they get out there, you know, they’re running around. Everyone loves doing that, ” says Singman.
There were T-shirts and other prizes being given away at the Columbus Blue Jackets tent.
The big daddy of them all though was a packet of four tickets for opening night. Singman says they are the best seats in the house with all the food you can eat, plus an autographed Rick Nash Western Conference All-Star jersey.
