Kindergarten registration opens soon at Zanesville City Schools

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Even though summer break hasn’t started, it’s already time to think about the upcoming school year for your kindergartener.
Zanesville City Schools will open online registration to kindergarten students from Monday, March 16, until March 27. After students are registered, they’ll hold a Kindergarten Signing Day at the STEAM Center.
“So at this Kindergarten Signing Day, students will take their kindergarten screening and that will the families and also the educators some areas of strength and then some areas that they need to grow in,” said Megan Weingart, the elementary curriculum supervisor for Zanesville City Schools. “And then, they will get activites and resources to work on for the remainder of the summer and then our school nurses will be there to do any vision or hearing screenings that are needed as well as the Health Department and then the Muskingum Valley Health Center will be there too, to go over any immunization records and then if students still need some of their kindergarten shots, those will be offered as well. ”
This will be the first year of the Kindergarten Signing Day event to help improve attendance for various screenings, to create a sense of community and to celebrate the start of a childs education.
“I think that it will bring our community together as well, right? Because when we have it just at our buildings, we sometimes don’t have that attendence numbers. Sometimes our students don’t come in for those screenings. I think that this, making it such a huge event and a big experience for our families, will also bring us all together.”
Registration starts on Monday, March 16, and can be done online at the Zanesville City Schools’ website under the “Parents” tab.
