Knights of Columbus Provides Coats to Local Kids

While Wednesday was sunny and warm the days of snow and sleet are on their way to the buckeye state.

With cold weather comes the need for a winter coat. The Knights of Columbus in Zanesville are doing their part to keep kids warm this winter with their annual coat drive. Chair of the drive Robert LaPrad said they provide coats to kids each year and every year just seeing the kids happy is worth the hard work.

“Well their smile’s are worth a million and they certainly appreciate the donation of these coats,” said LaPrad.

Each coat also dawned a special note for the recipient, showing that it isn’t a coat for just anybody, but especially for them. LaPrad said the Knights of Columbus fund raise all year to make the donations possible.

“We put on a number of different fundraising events in the community,” said LaPrad. “The Gun Fest is probably our largest incoming producing area. We put on golf outing. Anything to raise funds so that we can give that money back to schools, the community as a whole, and organizations like East Side. ”

33 kids at East Side stopped to take a photo in their new winter gear and they all celebrated with dinner provided by the Knights.
