Lace Up for the Upcoming Zanesville Half Marathon
ZANESVILLE, OH – Get your running shoes ready! The Zanesville Half Marathon is set for Saturday, September 28th, starting at the Secrest Auditorium.
The race kicks off bright and early at 7:30 AM, and it’s $70 to register. Runners will enjoy a scenic route through the city of Zanesville, and then finishing across the world-famous Y Bridge.
“It’s actually a pretty challenging course. It starts at Secrest, so downtown, and then it heads up north. We go through some of the neighborhoods, around the hospital, and then back down Blue Avenue and through the historic district. We’ll finish coming down Maysville Pike, through Putnam, and then back into downtown, finishing at the Secrest Auditorium,” Race Director Hanna Luburgh said.
Awards will go to the top three male and female finishers in each age category, and all finishers get a medal to celebrate their accomplishment.
“We’ve given three and a half hours for you to complete it. You don’t need to be an all-star to do the race. It’s a challenging course, but it’s a safe course. We’ve done our best to make it safe for you. Everybody’s out there, you see walkers, runners, super-fast people, and really slow people. Everyone is encouraging everyone. You just show up and you do your best. That’s all you can ask for,” Ann Hollingsworth, the Director of Community Engagement and Performance Management at the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department said.
