Lady Lancers capture back-to-back state softball titles

AKRON, Ohio – The Lakewood Lady Lancers are your OHSAA Division II softball state champions with a 2-1 victory over Archbishop Hoban to earn their fifth state title in school history.

Starting pitcher Courtney Vierstra went the first three innings without giving up a run, and the Lady Lancer offense capitalized. Senior Brenna Brownfield crushed a 2-run home run to left to give Lakewood the early 2-0 lead

Hoban would get their first and only run in the fourth inning, but Vierstra was able to get out of the jam leaving runners on second and third.

The Lady Lancers have now won back-to-back state titles, finishing the season with a 32-1 record.
